TCA Properties, LLC - Phase 1
A&K Earth Movers, Inc. has been awarded the TCA Properties, Phase 1 project in the vicinity of Robb Drive, Reno, Nevada. The project consists of the installation of 700 lineal feet of 72 inch RCP storm drain pipe together with 2 manholes, and inlet and outlet structures. The RCP pipe is an extension of the existing NDOT storm drain that runs underneath I-80. The challenging part of the project is the access to the construction site. The pipe needs to be installed in the existing drainage ditch which is located in a ravine approximately 100 feet deep. |

Carson City North Roop Street Enhancement
A&K Earth Movers, Inc. entered into a contract with Carson City Public Works to construct the Carson City North Roop Street Enhancement project. The project consists of 3,560 LF of trenching and the installation of 4 inch high density polyethylene fiber optic conduit and 9 traffic rated pull boxes. The storm drain and erosion control impacts will be improved by installing 600 LF of 18 inch pipe complete with catch basins and manholes, and 3200 LF of new curb gutter, sidewalk with valley gutters and spandrels. The project will be finished off with the milling of 16,350 SF of existing asphalt which will be repaved with 2 inch overlay of new asphalt. The entire roadway will then be slurry sealed and new traffic striping and signage installed. When completed this project is to improve the pedestrian safety in this area and reduce a major erosion problem due to lack of curb and gutter and underground storm drain system. |

Nevada Pacific Parkway Project
The Nevada Pacific Parkway project consists of the construction of a new connector roadway from the existing Newlands Business Park to the new I-80 Interchange in Fernley, Nevada. The work consists of 41,000 cubic yards of on-site cut to fill earthwork, a sewer system with over 3,000 lineal feet of sewer main of various sizes and manholes and a storm drain system with over 3,100 lineal feet of storm drain pipe complete with catch basins and drop inlets. The water system consists of a total of 5,850 lineal feet of 14" reclaimed water line and 18" domestic water line complete with appurtenances. The primary electrical system required relocation of existing mains, vaults and the installation of new street lighting. The new roadway will be completed with new curb, gutter and sidewalk for the entire length and new asphalt paving that ties in both ends of the project. |

City of Fallon Multi-Purpose Building - Fallon, NV
The City of Fallon Multi-Purpose Building is a recreational building that is funded jointly with the Churchill County Recreation Department along with federal funding. A&K's scope for this project is to construct the subgrade aggregate base, footings, utility trench and backfill, vapor barrier and 4,000 LB PCC slab. Also included in our scope is the sewer infrastructure and all offsite concrete and paving. The project is scheduled for completion in late summer 2012. |

East/West Transmission Line - Carson City, NV
A&K was awarded a contract for the installation of a new transmission main in Carson City, Nevada. The work included the installation of over 5,500 lineal feet of 24” diameter water line both fusible and bell and spigot pipe. A&K was also required to install 3 conduits in the same trench for the installation of fiber optic cable. A&K hired a subcontractor to complete a 950 lineal foot bore of 36” diameter casing to install the transmission main under US395. Over half of the trenching was through a designated wet land within a construction zone of 50 foot wide, with the work under the jurisdiction of the Army Corp of Engineers. A&K reconstructed the entire length of Butti Road with new curb, gutter and sidewalk, storm drain upgrades, and reconstructed the intersection of Saliman and Roop Streets. The Saliman Street reconstruction required an accelerated schedule so the work would be completed prior to the start of the new school year. The entire project was completed ahead of schedule. |
